Undertow Software has released a special version of Precision Mapping OCX which includes detailed street maps of the US and Canada. In addition, a World map is included, but it does not have road and street data for areas outside the US and Canada. However, the world maps (see below) are still of benefit to APRS users.
PMap 7.1 is NOT the retail version of PMap. 7.1 includes optimized street address to street address routing. The retail version (listed on the Undertow site as Precision Mapping 7.0 with Route Optimization) presently retails for $149.99. Undertow has obtained the source code for Ui-View32's PMapServer from the Barker family and has agreed to continue to develop updated PMapServer editions. Undertow has asked me to produce PMapServer7 using PMap 7.1 as freeware. Undertow has been supporting the APRS community since 1997 and I hope they continue doing so.
PMapServer7 is now in Beta testing. The release date is unknown at this time.
The following maps were created and captured using an APRS application I wrote some time ago (never finished or released). I removed the PMap 6.0 OCX and inserted PMap 7.1 OCX, and added a few lines of code to take advantage of new features available in 7.1. I connected to one of the firenet servers to ensure I received a large number of APRS stations and objects around the world. See the station in Antartica?
NOTE: Precision Mapping QuickFinder will not work with Ui-View / PMap Precision Mapping Streets 6.0 and Traveler 6.0 are required for use with the latest version of Ui-View32 and PMapServer6.
