Automatic display of NWS radar images as underlays in UI-View 2.03

Ui-View and Precision Map provide a wide variety of mapping capabilities for APRS activities.  The picture below shows NWS radar images displayed in Ui-View  as PMap underlays and active watch and warning areas as displayed by Ui-NWS.  The NWS radar images are captured periodically by NWSGet and saved in a user selectable directory (x:\Program Files\Peak Systems\\PmapServer7\Pmap Underlays\).

NWSGet obtains NWS radar images from the NWS RIDGE web site, Texas A&M or Iowa State University and converts the radar image to .bmp format, creates a .sat file for use as a Precision Map underlay and writes these files to a directory of your choice.

NWSGet 2.2.1 details and download are available here

NWSGet Requires an Internet connection, and Precision Mapping 3.1 or later for use with Precision Mapping Streets only.

Ui-View users require Ui-View32 vers 2.03 or later, and PmapServer6 1.5 or later, PMap 6.0 or later.  Precision Mapping Streets and Traveler 7.0 recommended.   NWSGet underlays will NOT work with Ui-View and PMap 5.0 (PMapServer) or versions of PMapServer6 prior to version 1.5!

This image shows the radar image in Ui-View32 and areas of maximum concern outlined in red/white, yellow, green/black.  Counties under NWS Watch, Warning, or advisory are colored.  APRS and Wx station icon display has been suppressed.  When these icons are visible, you can right click in Ui-View32 to get more detailed information, including the original NWS weather watch, warning, advisory and mesoscale discussion text.
